Focused on weight reduction and braking power suitable for mountain biking, the lever provides intuitive modulation that allows the rider to explore their limits with confidence.
The Shimano Deore XT M8100 lever incorporates a wide range of technologies aimed at ensuring rider safety:
- SERVOWAVE ACTION: When the lever is engaged, the initial travel of the pad is faster, so only a slight lever movement is needed for the pads to contact the brake disc. The power multiplication factor then quickly increases at the ''pad/disc'' contact point, allowing the lever's travel to be used to apply more braking power with greater control.
- Reach Adjust: The brake lever is equipped with a reach adjustment mechanism. The distance between the handlebar grip and the lever can be adjusted to fit any hand size or type of discipline, as well as the rider’s individual preferences.
- I-SPEC EV: This offers a greater range of adjustments so that riders of different styles, preferences, and body types can achieve an optimal position. It improves the firmness of the brake lever by moving the brake clamp position inward to create an additional contact point between the handlebar and lever. This additional reinforcement significantly increases bike control and brake engagement while maintaining space between the clamp and other handlebar accessories.
- Free Stroke: Allows adjustment of the distance from the lever’s initial position to the pad contact point to fit any hand size, type of cycling, and individual rider preferences.
The Shimano Deore XT M8120 caliper provides consistent brake performance and reliable stopping power in all conditions. The 4-piston caliper enhances confidence and control during descents.
The Shimano Deore XT M8120 caliper features Four Piston technology. It uses a power transfer system where the brake disc is pressed by the smaller piston at the disc’s entrance and also by the larger, more powerful piston at the rear. This prevents disc wobble and significantly reduces noise.
The 4-piston bridge also allows a larger contact area for the brake disc while maintaining a compact size, and the optimal positioning of the pads is adjusted as needed to stabilize pressure. Thanks to the combined use with the SERVOWAVE lever, an incredible 50% more braking power is achieved compared to the previous model.
