- HOLD ON TIGHT:
An exciting experience. With the most advanced XC suspension and geometry, and a specification ready for the extreme, the new Scalpel redefines cross-country speed once again.
- MODEL DESCRIPTION:
Aiming for XC race podiums and technical trails alike, the Scalpel 4 is always ready to go fast. It is built on a lightweight advanced carbon frame and equipped with a 12-speed Shimano Deore/XT groupset, RockShox SID suspension front and rear with remote activation, and Stan’s NoTubes Crest S2 wheels for reliable speed and control.
- PURPOSE:
The thrill of speed. Winning XC and marathon races. Mastering trails at high speed.
- HIGHLIGHTS:
Travel Notice Not just more travel, but better travel. Thanks to the magic of our FlexPivot kinematics and Proportional Response suspension, the Scalpel’s 120 mm of travel offer incredible traction, greater control, and much more precision, with all the efficiency and responsiveness you would expect from a World Cup race machine.
Devilishly Fast Speed starts with geometry, and the Scalpel has a winning setup. It features a relaxed 66.6° head angle, a steeper 75.5° seat tube angle, and chainstays that lengthen as frames grow to keep the rider balanced between the wheels. The result? More power and traction on climbs, precise control on corners, and a new level of confidence at high speed.
The Beauty of Speed This is not a fashion statement. It is pure design with a clear purpose. Every element of the Scalpel’s shape is driven by function above all: kinematics, weight, stiffness, and capability. Features determine form, rather than form limiting features. And speed looks good.
*FLEXPIVOT* FlexPivot chainstays are key to the Scalpel’s incredible suspension performance and low weight. These patented carbon sections act as virtual Horst Link pivots, creating a true four-bar suspension that allows our engineers to precisely tune how the suspension responds to pedaling, braking, and impacts, without the weight or maintenance of bearings.
*PROPORTIONAL RESPONSE SUSPENSION* How a suspension system responds to inputs is greatly influenced by the rider's center of gravity, yet most designs on the market use the exact same suspension setup across all sizes. With Proportional Response, we customize kinematics by size to provide the best traction, braking, and pedaling performance.
*GEOMETRIC ADVANTAGE* Full size-specific customization keeps you balanced at the optimal point. An aggressive 66.6° head angle gives confidence at high speed. The steeper 75.5° seat tube angle and longer reach keep you in the perfect position to deliver power and traction on climbs.
*LOW FLYING* The secret is no longer a secret: the ability of a dropper post to instantly raise or lower the saddle on technical sections or steep descents is a key to speed that XC riders can no longer ignore. That’s why you’ll find it on every Scalpel: so you can master any terrain, fast.
*CONNECTED* An integrated wheel sensor provides accurate information on speed, route, and distance, logs your bike, keeps you up to date on maintenance, and much more, all through the free Cannondale app.
*BREAKING CONVENTIONS* More travel and a more capable geometry also mean rethinking tires. The 2.4-inch tires on the new Scalpel have greater volume than narrower conventional XC tires, resulting in more traction and control, even on the toughest terrain.
