• Although aerodynamics was paramount in the development of the Tarmac—and all our race bikes—weight was the co-pilot in this mission to create the ultimate race bike. In the past, "aero bikes" always compromised on weight: the more drag you shaved, the more grams you added.

• With the new Tarmac, our philosophy was to keep it at or below the UCI weight limit right out of the box, without sacrificing aerodynamics. With the help of the FreeFoil Shape Library, tools like isotropic FEA analysis, and a touch of engineering magic from the best engineers in the industry, we achieved a FACT 9r frame that weighs just 1010 grams, without giving up a single gram of aerodynamics, stiffness, or ride quality.

• Continuing our quest for the perfect race bike, we applied the Rider-First Engineered™ philosophy to ensure the new Tarmac is the most balanced and best-handling Tarmac to date—regardless of size. Supported by an army of the world's best test riders from our three World Tour teams—Boels-Dolmans, Deceuninck-Quick-Step, and Bora-hansgrohe—we made changes to the Tarmac based on their thousands of kilometers on the road. We balanced ride quality between the front and rear so even the longest days in the saddle remain comfortable—all without sacrificing the legendary responsiveness and race-winning ability of the Tarmac.

• Based on lessons learned from the Venge, the new Tarmac uses a simple integration to create a clean and fast cockpit that's also easy to maintain. We've improved cable routing for any setup—mechanical shifting, traditional stems, round handlebars, etc.—all while retaining aerodynamic benefits. These same features also make the new Tarmac easy to work on and transport. It's a win-win.
